She floats.

She glides through her dreams.

Aware her body is fast asleep and this world she finds herself in is not based in reality.

It’s delightful.

She can control her thoughts.

She shifts the dream to find herself walking along a beach.

Listening to the surf.

Sand squishing between her toes.

Palm trees waving in the breeze.

She spins around, enjoying the warmth on her face.

Beeeeeeeeep. Beeeeeeep. Beeeeeeep.

What is that noise?

There is no traffic in the distance.

Louder it gets.

She looks around. What is making that noise?

Suddenly she is jolted, pulled away from her beloved beach.

Everything goes black.

All she hears is the obnoxious and incessant beeping.

She opens her eyes, and slaps the alarm clock.

She face plants into the pillow.

Just 10 more minutes.

She tries to return to her dream.

Boom. Boom. Boom.

Sounds of running echos through the house.

Am I still dreaming?

Do we have elephants?

What is that noise?

The door crashes open.

Thump Thump Thump across the hardwood.

Reality beckons.

A mothers work is never done.
